Wildwood commission votes to fill Seat 2 with Fountaine (mynews13.com) — Wildwood residents have a new city commissioner: retired Army officer David Fountaine has been appointed to fill Seat 2 and will be sworn in January 12, 2026. Trial set to begin in '24 murder of Leesburg store owner (insidelake.com) — A Wildwood resident is set to stand trial this week, accused of fatally shooting a Leesburg convenience store owner during a 2024 robbery. Prosecutors say the suspect fled for nearly a month before being arrested in Kissimmee, and he now faces multiple serious felony charges in Lake County court.
3. Peppertree resident smacks roommate with gift box during Christmas clash (villages-news.com) — Wildwood police recently responded to a domestic dispute at Peppertree Apartments where officers say a woman admitted hitting her roommate with a gift box during an argument over Christmas presents. Both roommates described a heated confrontation that escalated into physical contact and a mental health crisis, leading to the woman’s arrest on a battery charge and her release on bond from the Sumter County Detention Center.
4. Kevin Patrick Tighe (villages-news.com) — Services for longtime Oxford resident and Navy veteran Kevin Patrick Tighe will be held this week, including a Friday morning Mass at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Wildwood. Friends and neighbors are invited to pay their respects at a Thursday visitation in The Villages and the Wildwood Mass before his burial with military honors at Florida National Cemetery.
