• SUV Driver Critically Injured After Colliding With Winter Haven Fire Engine (winterhavendaily.com) — A Winter Haven Fire Department engine was struck by an SUV late Saturday night at Dundee Road and Overlook Drive, leaving the SUV driver critically injured. Firefighters were unhurt and immediately began treating and extricating the trapped driver before a medical helicopter flew the patient to a trauma center. Polk County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the cause of the crash.
   

• Man Wanted For Attempted Murder Arrested After Anonymous Tip: Polk County Sheriff (patch.com) — A Winter Haven resident wanted on multiple serious charges was arrested early Saturday after an anonymous tip to Heartland Crime Stoppers led deputies to a home off Country Place SW. Polk County Sheriff’s Office says the man faces counts including second-degree attempted murder tied to a July incident near Thornhill and Spirit Lake roads, along with an outstanding DUI-related warrant from Orange County.
   

• 140 Polk County high school football players on college rosters (newschief.com) — Polk County’s football pipeline is on full display, with 140 former local high school players now contributing to college programs nationwide. Winter Haven fans will recognize former Blue Devils quarterback John Kostuch, who’s continuing his career as a freshman signal-caller at Division III Monmouth in New Jersey, alongside dozens of other Polk standouts making their mark on campuses across the country.
