Floods Across GA Come In Wake Of Heavy Storms; More Rain Expected
From clogged drains on I-285 and a flooded cul-de-sac in one neighborhood, the heavy rains Tuesday caused widespread impact in GA.
GEORGIA — Flooded roadways accompanied by downed power lines and trees had crews busy Tuesday evening as storms battered parts of Georgia.
While the Georgia community recovers from the floods, the Peach State is set to face more rain Wednesday and each day after, according to a forecast.
The rain arrived early Tuesday evening and reportedly caused clogged drains on Interstate 285 east at GA-400, a downed tree in Dunwoody, widespread power outages and a flooded cul-de-sac in Smyrna.

Photos and video shared by Fox 5 Atlanta and 11Alive showed submerged cars and rescue efforts via life rafts at Coopers Creek Drive in Smyrna.
Several metro cities were under a flash flood warning into late night due to the threat of heavy rain and flooded creeks and streams.

Tuesday's Atlanta Braves game against the Cincinnati Reds at Truist Park was postponed due to severe weather. It is expected to take place at 6:05 p.m. Wednesday during a split doubleheader.
A man in northeast Atlanta was electrocuted while attempting to repair a blown transformer in the 300 block of Boulevard, Atlanta News First reported. His status was not immediately known.
Counties stretching from north Georgia to the coast may expect additional storms daily through Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service's forecast.
The Weather Prediction Center reported storms could spread from Texas to the East Coast from Wednesday-Friday.
The storms are not anticipated in north and central Georgia until Wednesday afternoon and evening, with the greatest threat focused on the central counties, according to a NWS hazardous weather outlook.
Frequent cloud-to-ground lightning, gusty winds and heavy rainfall are possible with some of the storms, the weather service said.
Bryan, Chatham, Liberty and McIntosh counties were at a moderate risk for rip currents through Wednesday evening.
While daily severe weather is not expected, weather officials said localized flash flooding remains possible.
Around 10 a.m. Wednesday, the National Weather Service predicted the following detailed forecast for metro Atlanta:
Today: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 5 p.m. Partly sunny, with a high near 87. Calm wind becoming southwest around 5 mph.
Tonight: Showers and thunderstorms before 11 p.m., then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm between 11 p.m. and 2 a.m., then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 a.m. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Low around 71. Northwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. New rainfall amounts between three quarters and one inch possible.
Thursday: Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly after 2 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 85. Calm wind becoming west around 5 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Thursday Night: Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly before 7 p.m.. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 70. West wind around 5 mph becoming calm. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent.
Friday: A slight chance of showers before 11 a.m., then a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 2pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 87. Calm wind becoming northwest around 5 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent.
Friday Night: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 8 p.m., then a chance of showers and thunderstorms between 8 p.m. and 2 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 71. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent.
