GA Female Mayor Youngest In U.S. History At 21: Reports

Arabi Mayor Brooke Huckaby leads a GA town, attends college courses and works at the GA Department of Agriculture, reports say.

GEORGIA — The nation's youngest female mayor calls Georgia home.

Arabi Mayor Brooke Huckaby, at 21-years-old, entered the political arena after filling the mayoral seat in January as the youngest to do so in Georgia and the U.S., WJCL and Fox 5 Atlanta reported.

Following in the footsteps of her father, who was once mayor of Arabi, Huckaby told WJCL it was a lack of interest among people her age that inspired her to engage in politics sooner than later.

"I really do (hope more young people become leaders)," she told Fox 5 Atlanta. "It's really time we start caring about the world that we're making for our children and their future and, right now, I don't think too many people are worried about that."
