3 Killed In Gang-Related Prison Riot In GA ID'ed
A dispute among several inmates broke out on the prison sidewalk, leading to a riot that killed three and injured 13 of them.

DAVISBORO, GA — The three inmates who died during a suspected gang-related prison riot on Sunday in Washington County have been identified.
The Georgia Department of Corrections on Monday said the incident, which occurred around 1:30 p.m. at Washington State Prison, involved multiple inmates and injured 13 of them. A correctional officer also suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
A dispute among several inmates broke out on the prison sidewalk, prompting authorities to clear the visitation area, the GDC said. The visitors were not injured during the incident, the GDC said.

Prison staff immediately responded and deployed non-lethal weapons, gaining control of the incident and completing count and wellness checks by 3 p.m., the GDC said.
Three inmates died in the riot. The GDC identified them as the following:

- Ahmod Hatcher, of Richmond County, serving 20 years for an aggravated assault conviction, maximum release date February 2038
- Jimmy Trammell, of Fulton County, serving 20 years for a first-degree burglary conviction, maximum release date January 2026
- Teddy Jackson, of Bibb County, serving 10 years for an aggravated assault conviction, maximum release date July 2028
Thirteen others were taken to local hospitals for their injuries, the GDC said.
Washington County Sheriff Joel Cochran on Sunday told reporters the riot came amid multiple fights between inmates.
"It's not uncommon for these things to happen in correctional facilities; however, I think it's been quite some time since we've had to come to an incident this large," he said in an interview with reporters.
Deputies worked to secure the outside of the prison while corrections officers secured the inside of the building, WAGA-TV reported. Georgia State Patrol reportedly provided security at the medical facility.
The prison was on lockdown Monday, and authorities are continuing to investigate the incident, the GDC said.
Washington State Prison is a medium-security facility for convicted males. The Davisboro prison can hold up to 1,548 inmates, some three to a cell.
