Volunteers at the Jay Weaver Food Pantry serve a half-day once a week to get an emergency food supply to hungry people in the community. People answer the phones to take down the information for the request sheet, then fill part of the order with canned goods in the pantry. Delivery people take the request sheets and pantry items, buy additional items at the grocery using a church charge account, and deliver everything to the families in need. The pantry coordinator. arranges training on Wednesdays from 5 to 6 p.m., Thursdays from 10 a.m. to noon, and Saturdays from 9 to 10:30 a.m. No walk-ins are allowed.
