2 Pedestrians Hit By Van Injured In Acworth

Two pedestrians were hit by a van while crossing the road, leaving one of them with critical injuries, Cobb County Police say.

ACWORTH, GA — Two people were injured after being hit by a van while crossing the road Saturday afternoon in Acworth, Cobb County Police said.

The serious crash occurred around 1 p.m. at Main Street and New McEver Road, police said.

Two people in a pedestrian crosswalk were heading north and crossing New McEver, where a white 2023 Mercedes Metris was turning right onto New McEver from Main, police said.

The Mercedes then hit both pedestrians, causing them to land in the eastbound lanes of New McEver, where the driver then stopped the van in the eastbound lane, police said.

One of the pedestrians suffered critical injuries, and the other suffered non-life-threatening injuries, police said. They were both taken to a local hospital, and their conditions were not immediately known Monday.

Police did not say if the Mercedes driver will face any charges in connection with the crash.
