Cobb County is under a flash flood warning until 7:15 p.m., according to an afternoon bulletin from the National Weather Service in Peachtree City.
"Widespread 2 to 3 inches of rain have fallen across the area primarily in a general line from just north of Milton to just southwest of Blairsville," according to the bulletin.
The National Weather Service urges people to take the following precautions:
- Do not attempt to cross water-covered bridges, dips or low-water crossings.
- Never try to to cross flowing stream—even a small one—on foot.
- To escape rising water, move up to higher ground.
