  1. Trick or treat at the Alpharetta Avalon is coming up! The event is on October 29th at 10AM. You can pick up a map from the concierge that shows the participating merchants. (Awesome Alpharetta)
  2. Make sure to vote for your favorite scarecrow in downtown Alpharetta. There are "more than 150 whimsical scarecrows designed by local schools, classrooms, non-profits, neighborhoods, families, and local businesses." Voting continues through Oct 19; all you have to do is post a selfie with your favorite one! (Awesome Alpharetta)
  3. Remember to check your traffic app before driving into Atlanta. GDOT is closing down lanes at the 400 I285 interchange to repair some bridges. This phase of the project is expected to last several months. (WSB Atlanta)

  • The state is researching whether a retired Alpharetta Municipal Judge wrongfully presided over several cases. Judge Barry Zimmerman resigned in June over reports of possible criminal conduct. The allegations involve six cases where he represented criminal defendants, using another attorney’s name and signature as a “straw man” defense attorney to file pleas with another Alpharetta judge.(Appen)
  • Sunny Stevens, an equestrian figurehead in Milton, passed away at 75 years old. She will forever be a part of Milton’s rural heritage." Deemed the region’s “equestrian godmother,” those in the horse community, and beyond," knew the native Atlantan and her steadfast attitude about training riders. Sunny won numerous awards for her equestrian work. Most recently, she received the Georgia Hunter Jumper Association Lifetime Achievement Award in 2020 for her devotion to protecting the wellbeing of the horse and safety of the rider." (Appen)
  • An Evereve Avalon employee is suspected of stealing thousands from the store. The employee is accused of taking customer returns and removing cash from the register. The suspect is a 40 year old women from Duluth and police are investigating the matter. (Appen)
  • Alpharetta residents who pay their propery taxes directly to the city have started receiving their annual tax bills in the mail. If a property owner has not received their City tax bill by Saturday, October 15, he or she is encouraged to contact the City of Alpharetta by sending an email to taxes@alpharetta.ga.us While most homeowners pay their property taxes through an escrow connected to their monthly mortgage payment, some do pay directly.
