  1. Do you want to learn more about what's happening in Alpharetta? There will be two meetings for the Alpharetta City Council today; one will be at 5:30 p.m., and a second one is at 6:30 p.m. The first will be a work session, which allows City Council to learn about upcoming items. The second will be a regularly scheduled meeting that will include votes. You can access the agendas for both at https://bit.ly/3MHDprc and https://bit.ly/43wYDxJ. The public can attend both meetings in person at Alpharetta City Hall and online. (City of Alpharetta)
  2. As reminder, only water should go into our our stormwater drains, as everything from the drains goes directly into Alpharetta's creeks and streams without any filtering. Therefore, do not dispose any other materials into them, including yard waste, oil, chemicals, etc. as these materials could end up in your yard, parks or other places. If you see anyone incorrectly using these drains, you can report them on the City's website. (City of Alpharetta)
  3. Are you familiar with the Crabapple area, which is in both Alpharetta and Milton? Milton is implementing their vision for their portion, and Alpharette recently decided to make sure their side (approximately nine acres) is compatible. The standards for both cities include streetscapes, sidewalks, landscaping, business design and much more. ( The Atlanta Journal Constitution)
  4. Now that the weather is warmer, there will be more bugs in our area for the next several months. The ones that will have the largest increase are flies, carpenter bees, termites and mosquitoes. You can protect your surroundings by eliminating any gaps and standing water at your home. Also, make sure to look for bed bugs when staying at a hotel. They make droppings that look like black dots around a bed and headboard. Also, they smell like dirty socks (ugh!). (WSB Atlanta)

From my notebook:

  • The bridge along New Bullpen Road in Milton was recently upgraded, which makes it look better and driving on it is much safer. The asphalt was replaced, concrete was repaired and the bridge was resealed. The bridge was originally constructed in 1939. (City of Milton)
  • Part of Kimball Bridge Road in Alpharetta will be closed due to construction starting in early May. The bridge that goes over GA-400 will be replaced, and this portion will be closed for at least one year. The affected section runs between North Point Parkway and Northwinds Parkway. (City of Alpharetta)
  • Have you heard of a seed bomb? It's a small packaged mix of wildflower seeds that turns into plants that create food for bees and other pollinators. You can create one today at the Milton library from 3:30- 4:30 p.m. This event is part of the Earth Week program in Milton. (City of Milton)
