- There is a meeting this Thursday, Jan. 19 at Milton City Hall from 4-6 p.m. to discuss the future of The District at Mayfield. This area includes nearly 18 acres in Crabapple near downtown Milton. The new plan is not set to include rezoning and its goal is to "better ensure consistency, quality and cohesiveness in this important area by Milton's downtown." There will be additional meetings on Feb. 9 and March 3. Here is a link to more information: www.miltonga.gov/DistrictAtMayfield.

- A resident of Roswell Nursing and Rehabilitation Center died on Jan. 9, and police were contacted about possible elder abuse and care neglect. EMT's had been called when the resident was unresponsive but had a pulse. "The pair of technicians told police the man’s condition pointed to a lack of medical attention for an extended period. By the time they had gotten there, the technicians said the man appeared to already be brain dead." (Appen)
- Adam Brooks, a North Atlanta High School music programs director, won the Manilow Music Project Award. Barry Manilow himself will present the award to him at the "Jan. 19 concert as his wife, kids, friends and colleagues look on." He will win $5,000 in cash, and $5,000 for the school music program. The NAHS music program has a "marching band, three levels of concert band (beginner, intermediate and advanced), two jazz bands, ensembles, percussion and music technology." (GPB News)
