Alpharetta Streetlights To Get A Major Upgrade
Work crews will convert streetlights throughout Alpharetta from older high-pressure sodium fixtures to energy-efficient LED lighting.
ALPHARETTA, GA — Over the next few weeks, Sawnee EMC crews will begin converting streetlights throughout Alpharetta from older high-pressure sodium fixtures to energy efficient LED lighting.
Crews performing the work will either be in Sawnee EMC bucket trucks or bucket trucks of a “Sawnee EMC Contractor” and will have identification available.
City officials said while a key benefit of the change to LED light fixtures is improved energy efficiency and resulting energy savings, the newer technology will also place more light onto streets and sidewalks with little or no stray light trespassing onto adjacent properties.

The change will also increase reliability and reduce maintenance, which will mean fewer non-working lights. It is important to note that only pedestrian and streetlights along public streets will undergo conversion.
Lights on private property, around neighborhood amenity areas, or along private streets will not be impacted.
