Here are the top stories in Alpharetta-Milton today:

  1. Mark your calendars for Sunday, April 16; the Alpharetta wine festival is that day. It will run from 2-5 p.m. at the Town Green by Alpharetta City Hall. Ticket holders will enjoy wine tastings and will receive a commemorative glass. Tickets are on sale now. (City of Alpharetta)
  2. Are you trying to figure out how to recycle your computers and other electronics? The City of Alpharetta is having a recycling event on Saturday, May 6 at the Alpharetta Department of Public Works located at 1790 Hembree Road. It will run from 8:30 a.m. until noon. This link has a list of items that will be accepted. Please note that there will be a charge (cash only) for certain items. If your business has a lot of electronics, please contact Atlanta Recycling Solutions directly at 678-566-6665 to discuss pick up options (City of Alpharetta).
  3. You're invited to celebrate Earth Day in Milton on April 22. There will be a special event at the Milton City Park and Preserve (1785 Dinsmore Road) between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. that day. It will be a family fun day with many activities including walking on the trail, meeting live rescue animals, learning about beekeeping and the "circular economy." North Fulton Charities is asking attendees to bring fruit cups to donate to its thrift shop. (City of Milton)
  4. An Austell woman was arrested for multiple charges stemming from a chase that occurred on GA-400 in Cumming. Consuela Mayfield, 24, was taken to the Forsyth County jail for allegedly driving under the influence, speeding, no headlights and other violations. Police tried to stop her while she was speeding at the Pilgrim Mill Road exit, and she reportedly started driving over 130 mph. A tire came off her car and she exited off McFarland Parkway. Then, she went through a red light and a second tire came off; the car finally stopped. (Appen Media)
