Here are the top stories in Alpharetta-Milton today:

  1. The annual Alpharetta Wire & Wood Festival starts today! Head to downtown Alpharetta to enjoy live original music performances starting at 5 p.m. There will be more than 30 performers at six outdoor stages and the event is free! (Awesome Alpharetta)
  2. The City of Alpharetta will be testing fire hydrants throughout the city over the next several weeks. The purpose of the testing is to ensure they are working properly, and it should done every five years. "Residents may notice a temporary change in water pressure, discoloration of the water or sediment in the water. These are all temporary and will resolve as water moves through the system. There is no need to report these issues unless they persist." (The Atlanta Journal Constitution)
  3. If you're planning to visit Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park, please note that there have been reports of a man wearing a ski mask stalking people there. "Witnesses told police that a man wearing a ski mask has been approaching people along a trail in the park. Park officials told Channel 2′s Michele Newell that they are working with local police to find the masked man to make sure their visitors are as safe as can be." Most of the park has good cellphone service and the public should call 911 if they see anything suspicious. (WSB Atlanta)
  4. Traffic headaches for Alpharetta and Milton residents will start on Saturday. There will be lane closures on 400 and I-285 that will last up to 8 months. Drivers are encouraged to use traffic apps and plan extra time when driving towards Atlanta. (The Atlanta Journal Constitution)

Patch deal of the day:

Wine lover alert. We found this amazing deal from Splash Wines — an 18-bottle curated selection of reds and whites for fall — for just $69.99. Shipping isn't cheap at $39.95, but that still comes out to just over $6 per bottle. Splash Wines has a money-back guarantee if you don't like the wine and 4.6 out of 5 rating on TrustPilot. So: recommended.
