  1. Mark your calendars for the Alpharetta Wire & Wood on Fri & Sat, Oct 7-8 from 5pm - 11pm. It will be in downtown Alpharetta will feature more than 30 top national, regional and local artists performing their original material. This year's festival lineup features an eclectic mix of talent including Rock, Country, Americana, Gospel, R&B, Bluegrass, Folk, Soul, and more; admission is free! ( Awesome Alpharetta)
  2. Every September for the past several years, the City of Milton has shined a spotlight on important issues concerning suicide and mental wellness . National Suicide Prevention Week is September 4-10 andthe City of Milton will use its social media these next few weeks to address a plethora of topics. They include depression, anxiety, and other mental health issues in the home, at school, the workplace and beyond. Stay tuned for that, including a special webinar the night of September 21.   3. One of the drivers involved in a fiery crash that shutdown I-285 in Dunwoody Monday is facing charges, police said. Four vehicles were heading west along I-285, and one went around another that was stopped in traffic, leading to a chain-reaction crash right under the bridge on Ashford-Dunwoody. The driver of the blue Mustang involved has been charged with making an improper lane change, resulting in the crash. (Fox 5)

  • The Labor Day Pig Out will be held On Sunday, September 4, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Palmer Plaza (the green space between Oak and Colletta in Avalon). You will enjoy an all-you-can-eat holiday feast featuring pork and all the sides. Oak & Colletta chefs will be smoking butts and ribs for a traditional holiday outing for all ages complete with children’s games & activities.   • Dinosaurs are taking over Alpharetta! Check out the Dino Safari from 11:00 am - 7:00 at the
    North Point Mall 1000 North Point Circle Alpharetta.
    Go on a globetrotting expedition around the world, dropping in to see a variety of dinosaurs living on each of the seven continents that were once Pangea during the Age of Reptiles.(Dino Safari)
  • Rootstock in Woodstock has a brunch from 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm with live music from Laurie Ann Jazzwine. The address is 8558 Main St, Woodstock and there is a full buffet meal. Check out their calendar for additional events. (Rootstock)

  • Are you curious about Alpharetta's firefighters? Meet Hagan Bailey, a second generation firefighter. He joined the Alpharetta Fire Department 3 years ago and has served part time with neighboring Roswell Fire. In addition to his role as a firefighter, Bailey is a paramedic, can operate the engine, ladder truck and the quint. (City of Alpharetta)
  • Cathy Janelle made a very generous donation of September 11-related mementoes to Fire Station 44 in Milton. The Queens native moved to Georgia six years ago, bringing with her a bin of 9/11-related items. On Friday, in addition to a framed poster, she donated the following to Milton firefighters: hard hat, mask and goggles she wore while volunteering at Ground Zero. (City of Milton)
  • Are you interested in learning about cemetary preservation? Join us at the Alpharetta Library for a special presentation by Oakland Cemetery on the its importance. It will be held on Monday, September 12th, 6:30 p.m. at 10 Park Plaza, Alpharetta. (Alpharetta Library)
