Here are the top stories in Alpharetta-Milton today:

  1. The crew from Alpharetta's Engine and Truck 81 were honored during a Cardiac Arrest Save Ceremony at City Hall. Back in January, they provided life support to a patient who had collapsed in the pool area at Lifetime Fitness. They brought the man to the ER, and when he arrived, he was conscious and responsive. (Alpharetta Department of Public Safety via Facebook)
  2. There will be a baseball event for AYBA registered players at Wills Park this Sunday, May 7. It's called the Annual Pitch Hit & Run Competition, and players will have the opportunity to advance through three levels of competition. They will be divided by age group. Please contact AYBA Board Member Brayden Whitney- bwhitney@alpharettabaseball.com with questions about this event. (Alpharetta Youth Baseball Association via Facebook)
  3. Mark your calendar for an upcoming production of the gospel musical comedy “Sanctified,” which will be on May 13 at the St James United Methodist Church, 3000 Webb Bridge Road in Alpharetta. This hilarious musical will run from 6-8:30 p.m. and it covers gospel music history, and "how it has been twisted, turned, and constantly revolutionized by the hip-hop and R&B sound." Tickets are on sale now! (Awesome Alpharetta)
  4. Are you interested in learning about the film industry? Check out "The Big Idea" event, which will take place at Studio Movie Grill in Alpharetta on May 17. There will be filmmakers, producers, fashion designers, etc. there to provide information. It will be hosted by David Manuel, who is the director of Fulton County Arts & Culture. (Awesome Alpharetta)
  5. Mother's Day is next weekend, and Patch wants to acknowledge all the exceptional moms out there. You can nominate someone online and tell us what makes that person extra special. Bob Chaet of Alpharetta nominated Joyce Chaet because " She is always present to help, even when she is not feeling 100 percent. We are so fortunate to have her in our life!! " (Patch)
