- Great news: the new Alpharetta School Year Guide is online and registration for activities and classes will open on July 26 for residents. Non-residents can sign up on Aug. 11. You can download the guide here bit.ly/44yzyCR, and printed copies will be available soon at recreation facilities. (City of Alpharetta Recreation, Parks, Cultural Services via Facebook)
- The storms on Thursday caused a lot of damage and many power outages in our area. The eastern part of Alpharetta was hit the worst. There were downed trees, limbs and power lines. City workers have prioritized which debris needs to be removed based on the impact to public safety, access for emergency and utility crews, impact to drivers and other factors. - Milton' Parks and Recreation professionals work hard to make events fun for our citizens. They are organized and need to plan for short-term issues as well as the future. They are committed to provide "the best possible parks, services, and opportunities possible to the people of Milton." Are you curious about what they look like? - School starts next month, and North Fulton Community Charities needs donations for its annual Back-to-School program. They are collecting backpacks and school supplies at Elkins Pointe Middle School, which is located at 11290 Elkins Road in Roswell. Last year, the program helped over 1,200 students in our area. - Chris Stapleton will be performing next month at Alpharetta's Ameris Bank Amphitheatre. The concert will take place on Aug. 26 at 7 p.m. Buy your tickets now; there is a limit of six. .(Creative Loafing)
- Alpharetta's Revolving Sushi Factory at 865 North Main St. can now sell distilled spirits; City Council has approved their request to change their current alcohol license. This restaurant serves sushi on a revolving belt and were previously allowed to serve beer and wine. (Subscription: the Atlanta Journal Constitution)
- Forsyth County residents were urged to use water for only emergency purposes yesterday. The storms on Thursday caused the water plant to lose power. Updates on water usage are being posted on the county's social media. (WSB Atlanta)
- As of yesterday afternoon, there were areas in Alpharetta and Milton with no electricity due to Thursday's storms.
