- Arbor Day will be celebrated this Saturday at Alpharetta's Wills Park. A Serviceberry tree will be planted near the Alpharetta Community Garden. Afterwards, guests are encouraged to enjoy the park including walking trails, Equestrian Center, playgrounds and more! (City of Alpharetta GA via Facebook)
- It's extremely important to make sure children are safe when traveling in a car. The Milton Fire-Rescue Department has an event on March 3 to help make sure car seats are safe and installed correctly. Parents can bring over your car seats to Fire Station 44, located at 13690 Highway 9, to be checked. Registration for a time slot can be obtained by calling 678-242-2536. (City of Milton)
- If you haven't already noticed, housing prices in our area have become much less affordable. There are many reasons including low inventory and higher mortgage rates. - Mark your calendars for June 3, when there will be a concert at a private residence in Alpharetta to benefit Hop on a Cure. This organization raises funds for "research to prevent, reverse and cure ALS while raising awareness." The lineup includes Blackberry Smoke, Yesterday's Wine and James Otto! Tickets are on sale now. - The family of a man shot by MARTA Police last week are demanding a full investigation. Osiris Bennett, 23, died as a result of the shooting. Police state that they confronted him after spotting him with a marijuana cigarette. He then pulled out a handgun and was then shot by police. The GBI is investigating this matter. (WSB Atlanta)
- Did you know that today is National Pig Day? Midway Elementary School students are encouraged to wear pink to celebrate. March 2 is Read Across America Day and students can dress as their favorite book character. (Midway Elementary via Facebook)
- The City of John Creek will be running a Free Outdoor Fitness Expo next Saturday, March 11 at Newtown Park. This event will include Zumba and interval training demonstrations plus the Park Place Silver Sneakers schedule. Silver Sneakers programs are designed for ages 62+.
