Here are the top stories in Alpharetta-Milton today:
- Fulton County is negotiating with 15 cities, including Alpharetta and Milton, on how to distribute Local Option Sales Tax (LOST) revenue over the next 10 years. There was a town hall meeting earlier this week where eight Fulton County mayors and one Fulton County Commissioner updated North Fulton residents on what is at stake. Currently, Fulton County receives 5 percent of the revenue, and they are requesting 21.9 percent in the future. The other cities divide up the rest based on their population, and it provides between 20-40 percent of their budgets. Residents need to contact their city government regarding the revenue distribution as it could affect their property taxes. (Reporter Newspapers)
- Sabu, a new Korean restaurant, recently opened in Alpharetta. It's located in the Hamilton Hotel at 35 Milton Ave. in downtown Alpharetta. The menu includes dishes such as fresh barbecue, kimchi and sashimi. (Sabu)
- A woman was scammed out of $10,000 at the Perimeter Mall. Dunwoody police said, "a woman was approached by another woman who said she was playing a card game for money and needed her as a witness so that she 'would not be taken advantage of,'" and offered to pay her $200. The female took the victim to a table where she saw a male playing a three-card guessing game. The dealer asked her to play and told her she would need at least $10,000 to show good faith. The victim then drove to the bank and withdrew $10,000 and returned to the mall. "When the woman chose the wrong card, the dealer grabbed the envelope with the $10,000 and walked away, police said."
