  1. A bridge in Milton was damaged by a single vehicle accident on Dec. 30. The bridge, which is over part of Chicken Creek, is being checked to determine how long repairs will take. The 3100 block of Hamby Road is closed during repairs, and could be open by late on Monday. There are detours around this area which are the "same ones utilized when Hamby Rd was closed for roundabout construction at its intersection with Hopewell Rd., which should provide some familiarity to drivers in the area." (City of Milton)
  2. Smoke alarms inside an apartment building on Westside Parkway in Alpharetta helped to save lives. A fire started in a vacant apartment last Thu., Dec. 29, and firefighters entered the building after getting reports of an alarm. A neighbor told them that the smoke alarm went off in a nearby apartment. They evacuated the floor and put out the fire. The building sprinklers weren't working at the time due to burst pipes from the extreme cold. (Alpharetta Department of Public Safety via Facebook)
  3. Alpharetta and Johns Creek have expanded their agreement to offer residents from both city's to participate in sports progams at resident rates. Until now, this agreement included only softball, baseball and lacrosse programs. Starting in 2023, it will also include recreational soccer. This expansion will make it easier to accomodate everyone interested in playing soccer. ( The Atlanta Journal Constitution)
