Here are the top stories in Alpharetta-Milton today:

  1. Do you like rodeos? You're in luck — there is one in Alpharetta from May 4 through May 6 at the Wills Park Equestrian Center Arena, located at 11915 Wills Road. The gates open at 6:30 p.m. and the rodeo starts at 7:30 p.m. You'll see competitions including team roping, bareback riding and break-away roping. Before the show, you can enjoy activities such as pony rides and a climbing wall. (FOX 5 Atlanta)
  2. Milton City offices will close today at 12:30 p.m. because there will be a staff development event. This affects all offices in City Hall as well as police and fire. Please plan to complete any business on Friday morning. (City of Milton, Georgia - Government via Facebook)
  3. The next time you're near the Alpharetta YMCA on Preston Ridge Road, check out the new raised planting beds. Volunteers from the North Metro Miracle League planted plants that attract pollinators such as milkweed. They should be blooming in about a month. North Metro Miracle League helps children with disabilities play sports. (Appen)
  4. Mark your calendar for next Saturday, May 13; there will be a free showing of the "Wizard of Oz" at the Green at Crabapple Market in Milton. It will be shown from 6-8 p.m. and will be fun for your entire family! Bring your own chair and snacks. In addition, there will be "300 interactive kits to enliven the movie experience and encourage exciting participation for the kiddos!" (Wizard of Oz)

  • There are still appointments available for the Milton Police Department blood drive. It will take place on May 16 from 2-7 p.m. at Stonecreek Churck, located at 13540 Highway 9 North in Milton. Sign up today! (Milton Police Department via Facebook)
  • Weather permitting, the outdoor basketball courts at Wills Park in Alpharetta will reopen next week. They were closed for resurfacing, and the project is scheduled to be completed by the middle of next week. Thank you for your patience.   • Attention to families of fifth graders at Cogburn Woods Elementary School — the school needs volunteers for the last week of school.
