- Milton's municipal election will be run by the city this fall; in the past it was run by Fulton County. Milton's City Council decided to make this change to save money; there is a projected savings of 50 percent. An information session was held last week to inform poll workers and residents about the changes they can expect. For example, all voting will take place in Milton. Advance voting will be at City Hall from Oct. 16 to Nov. 3, including two Saturdays. "Election day voting will take place at City Hall and the Milton City Park Preserve, formerly known as the Milton Country Club." (Appen)
- There is a possibility that Alpharetta will have a new townhouse development located on the Mansell Road exit off Ga 400. This land is currently zoned for a senior living facility that was never built. The new development will have 85 townhomes; City Council will make the final decision on Aug. 3. Currently, there are 2,000 senior living units for the city's 65 and older population, which is approximately 10 percent of the total population. (Appen)
- Visitors to Roswell's Chattahoochee Nature Center can enjoy the Butterfly Encounter experience, which will take place now through Aug. 6. You will learn about the different types of butterflies and nectar plants. It takes place inside a mesh tent in the property, and the cost is included in a general admission ticket. Here is a link for tickets. (FOX 5 Atlanta)
