- When you're done enjoying your fresh Christmas tree, there's an easy way to recycle it. Bring it to City of Alpharetta’s Bring One for The Chipper event, which will take place at in the parking lot of Home Depot at 5300 Windward Parkway on Jan. 7. It takes place between 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. In January of this year, they took in 1,855 trees that were turned into mulch for playgrounds, parks and other locations. You can also bring Christmas lights to be recycled! (City of Alpharetta GA via Facebook)
- Please help restock the food pantry at North Fulton Community Charities. They need nonperishable food items and there are many convenient places to drop them off. Here is a list of indoor sites: Alpharetta Adult Activity Center at North Park, Alpharetta Community Center, Alpharetta First Baptist Church, Avalon Concierge, Preston Ridge Community Center and Wills Park Recreation Center. Outdoor donations can be left at Alpharetta City Hall, Town Green, Milton Avenue at Canton Street and the Teasley Fountain. All of these locations are in Alpharetta. In addition, you can donate online from an Amazon smiles shopping list that will be sent directly to NFCC. Just visit https://amzn.to/3h3bQLq to take advantage of this easy option. (City of Alpharetta)
- Milton has a new fire truck, and you're invited to a “push-in” ceremony this Friday at 2 p.m. at Milton’s Public Safety Complex at 13690 Highway 9. The ceremony involves pushing the truck into a bay by firefighters and other community members. This vehicle, from Appleton, Wisconsin, is a "quint" which can be used as a ladder truck or water pumping fire engine. It's an upgrade over the prior engine, as it has updated technology and is better for the environment. (City of Milton)

- Do you have any questions about horses? The City of Milton has an “Ask the Equestrian” program that provides answers to common questions. Someone recently asked what the difference is between a pony and a horse and learned that ponies are shorter than horses; they're not different developmental stages. "If there’s something you’d like to know, email asktheequestrian@miltonga.gov." (City of Milton)
- Are you interested in Adopt a Road? It's a great way to get involved with your community and reduce the amount of litter. The City of Milton is looking for different types of organizations, including civic, nonprofits, schools and businesses, etc. to participate. The City will put up a sign with nameplates and provide equipment, including safety vests if you clean up the area quarterly. Here is a link with more information. (Milton Adopt-a-Road)
