ALPHARETTA, GA — North Point Community Church surprised Fulton County Schools staff this week by donating 16,000 children’s books and $15,000 in funding to support underserved students in the county, including those in need of social services and emergency funds.

The donation is a first of many that NPCC, along with 66 churches located in 21 states and six countries, will make over the coming months as part of an annual generosity campaign called Be Rich. This year, NPCC also invited the public to join Be Rich by participating in a children’s book drive that resulted in the 16,000 books being donated to Fulton County Schools.

“We are thrilled with these results and thankful the public and our attendees joined us in
doing something immediate and tangible to help local students,” said Andy Stanley, senior
pastor of NPCC. “We learned of this need while researching the best ways to serve our local
community through our annual generosity campaign called Be Rich. The need in our
communities if greater than ever, and the book drive is just one of many ways we can serve
them through Be Rich.”

“The work of education is too complex to do in isolation,” said Clifford Jones, chief academic
officer for Fulton County Schools. “Working together with our faith partners allows us to
provide and do more for our students and families. Be Rich is a prime example of a
partnership that is aligned to our district strategic plan, which will positively impact our
students.”

NPCC attendees, including many parents and children of the church’s Waumba Land
preschool and UpStreet elementary school ministries, donated 5,500 books. Members of the
public, most of whom had no prior experience with the church, donated 11,000 books.
Additionally, more than 50 local businesses, located off Old Milton Parkway and in downtown
Alpharetta and Roswell, helped promote the book drive to customers and employees.
