Also known as the DRB, the Design Review Board (https://www.cityofmiltonga.us/government/boards-committees/design-review-board-drb/) makes recommendations to the City’s Community Development Director and for consideration by other City committees. Its members review new construction proposals, new site development plans, and certain significant alterations to existing structures in Milton. The DRB also examines and votes on demolition proposals.

A pair of demolition requests, in fact, are on Tuesday’s agenda. They are for:

  • 16755 MORRIS ROAD, a property between where Morris intersects with Webb Road and Deerfield Parkway. The applicant wants to knock down a single-level residential structure an three sheds, leaving the foundations, driveway and slabs.
  • 3582 AVENSONG VILLAGE CIRCLE, in east Milton’s Avensong neighborhood. The home on this property caught fire on December 10, 2021, after which the structure was uninhabitable.

The DRB will also conduct two “courtesy reviews” as part of the public hearing process for:

  • 13651 NEW PROVIDENCE ROAD, across from Mill Springs Academy in the AG-1 zoning district. The applicant wants to build an additional, fourth single-car garage and, to do so, is seeking to reduce the rear-yard setback from 50 feet to 35.9 feet.
  • 4855 WINDWARD PARKWAY, which is where Windward hits Cogburn Road next to a Goddard School and across the street from Hopewell Middle School. Specifically, this item pertains to a preliminary building review a proposed 2-story, 8,147-square-foot building that will include tenant space and the Deerfield Dentistry office.

The latter Deerfield Dentistry property will also be the subject of a final review – in that case, for its land development plan.

The Board will conduct another final review for the Chadwick Village development along Arnold Mill Road in southern Milton. The building plan for the structures at this property – which included a convenience store with gas pumps, a commercial building, and a pavilion – was approved by the Board in December 2021. On Tuesday, members are set to review the proposal’s land development plan.

After this meeting, Milton’s Design Review Board will next convene on April 12.
