1. A former solicitor for Alpharetta and Milton is receiving a settlement of $100K. Fran Shoenthal McQueen had demanded significantly more because she believes she was unfairly replaced by Kelsie Mattox due to her age and race. $75,000 of the settlement will be paid by insurance, and the rest will come from taxpayer funds. 2. A Roswell man has been arrested for stabbing his wife of 56 years. Bruce Miller, 82, called 911 on Sept. 15 and said that his wife, Judith Miller, had taken her own life. When police arrived at their house, she was found dead from an apparent stab wound. He has been booked into the Fulton County jail and charged with murder. (Fox 5)
3. Eggs Up Grill just opened a new location in Alpharetta. It's a breakfast and lunch spot in the Grasslands Crossing Shopping Center at 5665 Atlanta Highway. The Grasslands restaurant will serve guests seven days a week from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m., with dine-in, online ordering, takeout, catering and delivery options available. (Eggs Up Grill)

• The effects of Hurricane Ian should be minimal for the Alpharetta-Milton area. It is expected to be a tropical storm as it goes toward the Georgia coast; tropical storm conditions are expected there and across southeastern counties today. The eastern half of Georgia could also receive heavy rainfall (2–4-inch accumulations) and gusty winds (30 to 40 mph) later in the day today through Saturday afternoon. (Hurricane Ian)
• The Nest Cafe only has been serving happy customers for a few months, but it already feels like a Milton institution. On Monday, the city made official the fact that this beloved breakfast-and-lunch eatery is part of the Milton family with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The original Nest Cafe is in downtown Alpharetta. • "From now through Dec. 31, 2023, Fulton County will be conducting sewer maintenance activities on pipes that parallel the Big Creek Greenway in the area between Rock Mill Park and Preston Ridge Park."
