Here are the top stories in Alpharetta-Milton today:

  1. Mark your calendars for Crabapple Fest, which will take place on Oct. 1. It is Milton's most popular event, and over 30,000 people have attended in the past. Attendees can shop for unique items, and there will be plenty of dining options. There will be entertainment and activities for children as well. (City of Milton)
  2. There's still time to sign up for the Alpharetta Mayors Challenge 5K! It will take place on Thursday, Sept. 29 in downtown Alpharetta. The event starts at 5 p.m., kids run is at 6 p.m., and the 5K starts at 6:30 p.m. All proceeds will benefit local organizations supported by the Rotary Club of Alpharetta. (Mayors Challenge)
  3. A woman was assaulted in the ladies' room at the Fulton County courthouse earlier this week. “Unfortunately, we had a young lady that was attacked in a courthouse restroom,” deputies said. “Fortunately, a witness walked in and interrupted the assault.” The Fulton County Sheriff’s Office said there is an active search for the man around the Justice Center Complex.   • Roads in downtown Alpharetta will be closed from 6 a.m. on Saturday to 2 a.m. on Sunday due to the Brew Moon Fest. During that time, parking will be available at several locations in the area. Guests visiting the Hamilton Hotel can access the facility by traveling along Canton Street to Old Canton Street. (City of Alpharetta)
  • Starting on Oct. 5, you'll be able to vote for your favorite scarecrow in downtown Alpharetta. Over 150 scarecrows will be on display, all created by schools, families, neighborhoods, nonprofits and local businesses. You can vote by posting a selfie on Instagram or posting on Facebook. The scarecrow with the most "Selfie Votes" will win the People's Choice Award! (Awesome Alpharetta)
  • The Johns Creek Police Department will have a Community Expo with a focus on crime prevention. It will take place on Oct. 20. Speakers will cover topics including active shooters, crime trends and fraud prevention. (Johns Creek)
