Here are the top stories today in Alpharetta-Milton:
- Please consider helping to restock the pantry at North Fulton Community Charities. They need non-perishable food items. There are many locations in Alpharetta where you can drop them off, including seven open during business hours and four outdoor donation trees. In addition, you can donate online using an Amazon smiles shopping list. (City of Alpharetta)
- Christmas in Crabapple was a huge success! It was last Saturday afternoon, and hundreds enjoyed treats, worked on crafts and had pictures with Santa. Volunteers from the National Charity League, members of Scouts BSA Troop 3000, and the Sriganesha brothers helped out. And if you’re driving by at night through the holiday season, enjoy the view of Milton’s Christmas tree that was lit up for the first time season at the end of Saturday’s festivities. (City of Milton)
- The NTSB is continuing to investigate the plane crash in Alpharetta earlier this fall. Two people died in this crash, which was near Kimball Bridge Road. It was headed from Jeckyll Island to DeKalb-Peachtree Airport. "The NTSB says the plane was torn apart crashing into the woods, which is "consistent with a high energy impact." Investigators found the engines buried about four feet into the ground. The final report could take up to two years. " (FOX 5 Atlanta)
- Milton City Council approved a 10 year agreement to use the recently opened Fulton County annex jail in Alpharetta. This is great news for Milton, as Milton police will no longer have to transport arrested individuals to Atlanta. Until now, Alpharetta was the only municipality using this annex since it reopened after COVID-19. "In addition to saving time and gas going back-and-forth to the Rice Street jail in Atlanta, the City of Milton would not have to pay anything additional to house inmates at the north annex jail who were arrested on State misdemeanor or felony charges. For strictly local charges, Milton is responsible for a $60 processing fee for each arrestee and $60 daily lodging fee (starting after 4 hours of holding)." (City of Milton
- Downtown Alpharetta had snow last Friday evening, plus a visit from Santa and a Christmas tree lighting! There will be another celebration this Friday night including Sips of the Season, where local restaurants will serve featured holiday inspired beverages. Here is a link to them.https://cdn03.qrcodechimp.com/... We're also collecting donations for North Fulton Charities at this event. (Awesome Alpharetta)
