Downtown Alpharetta Shooting Suspect Charged With Murder

Public safety officials identified the man killed in a shooting in downtown Alpharetta and said the accused shooter has been arrested.

ALPHARETTA, GA — A Milton man is facing murder charges after public safety officials said a verbal dispute led to gunfire Wednesday in downtown Alpharetta.

The Alpharetta Department of Public Safety said Jaden Lewis, 21, was arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of Justin Mourning.

The shooting occurred around 11 p.m. in the area of Highway 9 and Milton Avenue. Public safety officials said officers found a gunshot victim at the scene and took him to a local area hospital, where he died of his injuries.

The two people had engaged in a verbal dispute regarding an unknown topic.

Fulton County Jail records showed Lewis was charged on suspicion of murder and aggravated assault and remained incarcerated Friday.

"The Alpharetta Department of Public Safety would like to thank the numerous citizens who provided information leading to this arrest," public safety officials said in a news release.
