Here are the top stories today in Alpharetta-Milton:

  1. Election poll workers are needed for Alpharetta. Representatives from the Fulton County Office of Registrations and Elections are coming to Alpharetta City Hall at 2 Park Plaza this Saturday, Sept. 10, in search of citizens interested in working the polls during early voting and on Election Day. Unable to attend the event? Learn more and apply online at https://bit.ly/3BnWdFP (City of Alpharetta)
  2. Milton residents can sign up to be election workers this upcoming Wednesday at Milton's City Hall, 2006 Heritage Walk. Fulton County Government will run the fair, just as they'll run the elections in Milton and other cities starting in October through Election Day on Nov. 8. The Sept. 14 event will run from 5 to 8 p.m. Those interested can drop by anytime in that period to talk to election officials about the process and becoming a poll worker. If you can't attend but want to learn more, you can go to https://www.fultoncountyga.gov/pollworker. (City of Milton)
  3. Great news for Milton Residents — there is significant progress in response times from Milton's Fire Department from 2019 to 2021 in southeastern Milton near the Highway 9 corridor. This improvement tracks with the mid-2020 addition of Fire Station 44. Leaders from Milton’s Fire Department shared results of a “deep dive” into hazards in the city, an analysis of current and potentially future response times, and recommendations to address gaps to improve service in a recent City Council meeting.
