  1. Fireworks are allowed in Milton later this week, with some restrictions. They can be set off starting on New Year's Eve from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 a.m. New Year's day. They aren't allowed "on a public road, City park, or within 100 yards of a gas station/fuel tank, electric substation, historic site, nursing home or another health care facility." Please be mindful of possible negative reactions by children, pets and military veterans if you're planning to set them off. (City of Milton, Georgia - Government via Facebook)
  2. Many homeowners are filing insurance claims as a result of damage from burst pipes due to the extreme cold. Most damage and repairs will covered by insurance. However, renters who don't have insurance many have to pay for damage to their belongings. "If there are issues getting a claim processed, you can file a complaint online with the Insurance Commissioners Office. You can also call (404) 656-2070 or toll-free at (800) 656-2298. (WSB-TV)"
  3. An Alpharetta man was killed in a car crash in nearby Forsyth county. James Allen, age 30, lost control of his truck in the Chattahoochee River Club Subdivision and crashed into a tree on Christmas Eve. He was pronounced dead by police and his passenger was taken to the hospital. (The Georgia Sun)
