Here are the top stories today in Alpharetta-Milton:

  1. There is great news for fans of Foundation Social Eatery. This restaurant, which closed its Roswell location in 2019, is reopening in a new location at 55 Roswell St. in Alpharetta on Dec. 9. The menu will feature many of the favorites from Roswell, plus new dishes "including burrata with sunchoke, black truffle, hazelnut gremolata, watercress, sunchoke chip and veal jus; and leek-dusted flounder with gigante bean, melted leek, olive, tomato, rock shrimp, tarragon, caviar and beurre blanc." (The Atlanta Journal Constitution).
  2. Who would like to have pancakes with Santa? You can do just that this Saturday at Milton Fire Station 44, at 13690 Highway 9 starting at 8 a.m. Breakfast, served by Milton firefighters, is free, and you'll be able to spend time with Mr. and Mrs. Claus. Please bring a toy or clothing donation for North Fulton Community Charities. (City of Milton)
  3. First Watch, the popular breakfast/brunch restaurant, has opened a new location in Alpharetta! It is located at 5035 Windward Parkway and has indoor and outdoor seating. Items on the menu include "smoked salmon eggs benedict, farm stand breakfast tacos, lemon ricotta pancakes and avocado toast." You can find out the wait time for a table on their website. (First Watch)
  4. Tomorrow evening there will be another Season of Celebration holiday event in downtown Alpharetta. It will include photos with Santa, community karaoke, snow flurries, music and more! In addition, restaurants in the area will have Sips of the Season, where they will serve unique holiday themed cocktails and hot chocolate; check out this link qrcc.me/rl6z5uzwz7u6 for a list. The city is also collecting donations for the North Fulton Community Charities food pantry, please bring a nonperishable item. (City of Alpharetta Recreation, Parks, Cultural Services via Facebook)
  5. In nearby Sandy Springs, a grandmother was sentenced to life in prison for poisoning her grandson with methamphetamine. Tonya Monroe was found guilty on all counts including malice murder, two counts of felony murder, cruelty to children in the first degree, and distribution of methamphetamine. When a toxicology report showed that the child died of an overdose, Monroe fled the area and was caught after a month in a chase through Georgia and Alabama. (Fox 5)
