  1. Make sure to file your homestead property tax exemption paperwork prior to April 1 to save money on your property taxes this year. You can get information on programs available to Alpharetta homeowners at https://www.alpharetta.ga.us/homestead . "Please note that application for the basic homestead exemption is automatically done when you file for your Fulton County Homestead Exemption. " You can learn more about the Fulton County exemptions at https://bit.ly/3t8VG6t . There are different options available based on your age, income, type of property and other factors. 2. As people are getting their property ready for spring, it's important to make sure that yard waste is properly disposed of. Otherwise, it won't be picked up. In Alpharetta, it should be placed on your curb before 7 a.m. on the same day when your trash and recycling is picked up. Waste needs to be in paper lawn bags or 35-gallon trash cans. In addition, there are limits on how much you can put out each week, and guidelines on the size of tree limbs. (City of Alpharetta)
  3. A teacher at Marietta's William Milton Davis Elementary School is no longer working at the school after she was allegedly found to have alcohol in her classroom. Jean Warnken has been accused of drinking alcohol out of a "reusable plastic cup with lid and straw" on the morning of March 3. She had previously been named the school's 2020-2021 classified employee of the year. (FOX 5 Atlanta)
  4. Pollen counts in our area are already very high and are at record breaking amounts. For example, the count was 2,592 on March 8, compared to 110 on the same date in 2022. It was even higher on March 7, at 3,937. While the rain washes it away temporarily, it will come back quickly when the sun comes out. (11Alive.com WXIA)
