  1. The Alpharetta Rotary Club is hosting a human trafficking summit this Saturday, Jan. 21 at Innovation Academy. The address is 125 Milton Ave. in Alpharetta. Speakers will include First Lady Marty Kemp, Former Ambassador to the State Dept. Susan Coppedge, Special Agent Renee Green and survivor Rachel D. Fischer. Participants will learn how to prevent children from being recruited, which can happen in our area. Attendance is free but registration is required. (Alpharetta Rotary)
  2. A mailman stole a FedEx package from a home on Mount Oglethorpe Trail in Johns Creek. The victim received a notice from FedEx that his package was delivered, and after the mailman left, it was gone. The victim had a security video of the mailman taking the package before he placed mail in the victim's mailbox. The package contained an $80 sweater. (Appen)
  3. Gas prices in our area increased quite a bit compared to last week. The state gas tax was reinstated, and drivers are now paying an average of $3.06 per gallon, compared to $2.81 last week. "AAA states that Monday’s state average is 25 cents more than a week ago, 24 cents more than a month ago, and 5 cents less than this time last year.   • Booksales at the Milton Library have started up again! There are over 10,000 books available for all ages and at great prices. Proceeds pay for many programs at the library including games and crafts. Stop by on Tuesdays from 1 to 5:30 p.m. (Friends of The Milton Library via Facebook)

  • Cogburn Woods Elementary School students are encouraged to participate in the “All The Feels” Reading challenge this month. Read and as much as possible: you can earn badges.
