  1. Milton residents can take advantage of an instructional petanque league this spring. This game is similar to bocce and horseshoes, as players throw balls (called boules) towards a target (called jacks). It's very social and just about everyone can play. The league games will take place in Bell Memorial Park starting in March. You can sign up at www.miltonga.gov/Registration and clicking the “Adult Petanque” tab. (City of Milton)
  2. Would you know what to do if an emergency strikes? Check out CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) training classes, which start in March in Alpharetta. Students must be at least 21 years old and live in Fulton County to sign up. Register now at https://forms.office.com/g/KpJntEk8YM (City of Alpharetta)
  3. Do you know someone who needs to get their GED (General Educational Development) certificate? North Fulton Community Charities can help students pass the GED exam. They provide tutors, practice tests and vouchers to cover the cost of the exam. NFCC also provides many other types of assistance to people in our area including a food pantry, thrift shop and ESL classes. (Atlanta Journal Constitution)
  4. Homeowners in Roswell's Martins Landing subdivision in Roswell are concerned about the number of deer in their neighborhood. The deer have greatly multiplied and are eating plants, shrubs and flowers. Homeowners are encouraged to plant deer resistant greenery. Another potential solution is bow hunting, which is allowed with neighborhood approval. However, Martins Landing isn't planning to allow hunting. (WSB Atlanta)
