Lighting Of Avalon Set For Sunday In Alpharetta
A holiday market opens Friday at Avalon, followed by the Lighting of Avalon event on Sunday with ice skating, Santa, and more.

ALPHARETTA, GA — It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas at Avalon as the community prepares to celebrate the holiday season. From Friday, Nov. 12, through Monday, Jan. 17, 2022, Avalon will host a collection of family-friendly activities, including ice-skating, Santa visits, a tree sale, and the seventh annual Lighting of Avalon.
“We love serving as North Fulton’s home for the holidays and curating unforgettable experiences for our deserving community of Insiders who consistently show up to support our team,” said Nina Fender, marketing manager at Avalon. “We’re counting down the days until we get to bring everyone together again to make new memories in Avalon’s living room.”

- Holiday Market at Avalon
- Nov. 12 - Dec. 24: The second annual Holiday Market returns to The Boulevard on Nov. 12 with local makers and merchants, including the Gussied Up Pet Boutique, Southern Bungalow Co., KSquared Artisan Boutique, Art by Lainey, and Ethnobotany Shop. The market’s operating hours are Mondays through Wednesdays from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Thursdays through Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.; and Sundays from noon to 6 p.m.
- The Lighting of Avalon
- Nov. 21, 1 to 8 p.m.: Get into the holiday spirit during the annual tree lighting ceremony, presented by Northside Hospital. Enjoy family-friendly activities, ice-skating performances, a Santa appearance, live music from local DJs, and a special performance by Bogey and the Viceroy. This event is free and open to the public; however, the cost of food and beverage will vary.
- Avalon on Ice
- Nov. 21 - Jan. 17, 2022: The Rockefeller Center-inspired ice rink returns to Avalon on Nov. 21 and will remain in The Plaza until Jan. 17, 2022. General admission tickets, which include skates, are $18 for adults and $14 per child under nine. Walk-ups are welcome, but reservations are encouraged to ensure a spot on the ice. For group pricing, contact avalon@icerinkevents.com. Operating hours are Mondays to Fridays from 3 to 10 p.m.; Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.; and Sundays from noon to 7 p.m.
- Santa at Avalon
- Nov. 22 - Dec. 24: Ho-ho-ho! Santa’s flying back down to Avalon for another year of festive photo ops with all the good boys and girls of Alpharetta. Appointments are full, but walk-ups are welcome between Nov. 22 and Dec. 24. Pet photos will also be offered Mondays from 4 to 7 p.m., and Storytime with Santa will be held Mondays from 6 to 7 p.m. (two weekly sessions). Santa will also host breakfasts on Dec. 11 at Chick-fil-A and Dec. 12 at Oak Steakhouse. Plus, guests staying at The Hotel at Avalon with their children can book a Santa tuck-in from Nov. 19 to Dec. 23.
- Black Friday at Avalon
- Nov. 26, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.: During Black Friday at Avalon, shoppers can enjoy all-day specials, as well as participate in a swag crawl with select retailers and restaurants. The first 50 guests to check-in at concierge will receive a special tote along with a map of brands offering promotions exclusive to Black Friday swag bag holders.
- City of Refuge Tree Lot
- Nov. 26 - Dec. 12: For the second year, Atlanta-based nonprofit City of Refuge is hosting a Christmas Tree sale at Avalon from Nov. 26 to Dec. 12 (or until sold out). Fraser and Balsam Firs along with wreaths and garlands will be available for purchase Mondays through Fridays from noon to 9 p.m. and Saturdays to Sundays from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. All proceeds will be donated to children in need.
- Menorah Lighting at Avalon
- Nov. 28, 5 p.m.: Celebrate the first night of Chanukah with Avalon and Chabad of North Fulton during a traditional Menorah lighting ceremony at 5 p.m. on Nov. 28.
- Gameday Giveback
- Dec. 4, 3 to 8 p.m.: Spirited football enthusiasts are invited to don their team colors and enjoy tailgate games, special raffles, and themed food and beverage offerings during Avalon’s inaugural Gameday Giveback, a live viewing party for the SEC Championship benefiting Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. Guests can also elevate their game day experience by purchasing tickets for the VIP seating area, where $10 Tito’s cocktails will be available. All proceeds from the raffle, VIP tickets and cocktails will be donated to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. To purchase VIP tickets or to become a Gameday Giveback sponsor, visit the Children’s website. This event is free to attend, and guests are encouraged to bring their own chairs and blankets, however outside coolers are not permitted.
