Here are the top stories today in Alpharetta-Milton:

  1. Many everyday items rely on lithium-ion batteries including laptops, phones, scooters and even cars. It's important to use them safely, as they can cause fires. Most fires are caused by manufacturing defects, damage and overheating. Stop using one if it smells different, changes color, has a different shape or becomes hot. In addition, only use the original charger and battery that came with the device, or one that was designed for the device. (Alpharetta Department of Public Safety via Facebook)
  2. Roswell police are investigating a shooting that took place in February on Old Ferry Way. When they arrived at this location, a man was on the ground with a gunshot wound. He was next to an empty black Pontiac and there were several 45 mm casings next to the car. The victim was taken to a nearby hospital. (Appen)
  3. A Roswell woman contact the police because she was scammed out of $82,000 involving cryptocurrency. She has a Coinbase account, and someone hacked into it after sending her an email posing as a Coinbase employee. Coinbase tracked the transaction to a Florida IP address. (Appen)
  4. Are you interested in being the artist who paints the Alpharetta Arts Center's new piano? It's a baby grand piano that will replace the one currently there. Applications are due by March 29. (Alpharetta Arts Center)
