Here are the top stories today in Alpharetta-Milton:
- Attention all GA 400 drivers, the speed limit in one section has been lowered to 55 mph. The area affected is in Alpharetta between Haynes Bridge Road down to north of Atlanta. All northbound and southbound lanes have the new speed limit, and signs have been posted on the highway. (11Alive.com WXIA)
- Congratulations to Elliott Austin of the Alpharetta Fire Department. He was recently promoted to assistant fire training manager. Allen, a fire apparatus engineer, is also the HazMat Team Commander for the department. He started working for the Alpharetta Fire Department for 5 1/2 years ago. (Alpharetta Department of Public Safety via Facebook)/
- The entire C shift of City of Milton Fire Department (four stations) were treated to a delicious dinner served by members of the Vision Baptist Church on Saturday. The meal was barbecue plus banana pudding for dessert! If your group would like to do something similar for police officers, firemen, ambulance drivers, etc. contact Steve Cory at stephen.cory@miltonga.gov. (City of Milton)
- Sam’s Sushi & Japanese Restaurant in nearby Duluth did not score well in a recent inspection. There weren't parasite documents for several items including tuna and sea cucumbers. In addition, there was mold in the ice machine and around the live fish tanks. Some food items were improperly stored in coolers. As a result, this restaurant must fully cook all menu items until their parasite documents are provided and approved. (The Atlanta Journal Constitution)
