From my notebook:

  • "All available slots for Milton's upcoming Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event have been filled. We look forward to holding another such event in 2023. Signups started yesterday and the list quickly filled up. Please follow the City of Milton’s social media accounts, sign-up for its emails, and check its website for details on that and other recycling opportunities." (City of Milton)
  • "The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board will meet Thursday at a special location — Milton City Park and Preserve — to discuss the possibility of adding two programs. As is customary, the meeting will begin with committee reports on some of Milton’s many recreational programs — including those for the arts, baseball, basketball, girls lacrosse, swimming and tennis. Then PRAB will discuss the possibility of bringing a new visual arts program to be run by Kidcreate Studio. Kidcreate has over a dozen physical franchises nationwide — the closest being in Johns Creek — offering hands-on arts classes." (City of Milton)
  • What are those things on the skinny poles along Haynes Bridge Road near Alpharetta City Hall? They are a new technology used to count the number of cars that pass, and they have been installed them temporarily to collect information on traffic counts and patterns along Haynes Bridge Road and Academy Street in Downtown Alpharetta. These units are easier to install and maintain and provide more accurate information than the old method of running sensor cables across the street and connecting them to analog counters.
