  1. Congratulations to both the girls and boys track team at Milton High School; they "won the 5A Region Championship for the first time in school history." They competed against six schools and won in a two-day competition. In addition, 11 Milton High School team members, plus 4 others from the Cambridge High School track relay team, qualified for the state meet. (Appen)
  2. Milton is celebrating National Police Week with a number of events. Yesterday, they held a fallen soldier ceremony and secure shredding event. Today there is a blood drive. Later this week there will be Coffee with a Cop and an awards ceremony. (Milton Police Department via Facebook)
  3. Milton resident Mark Brooks is an award-winning comic book illustrator. Right now, he's working on the cover of a “Immortal X-Men” series. He has also worked on "Spider- Man," "Fantastic Four," "Avengers" and others. You'll be able to see him at MomoCon, which is held at the Georgia World Congress Center on May 25-28.   4. Great news: the pool at Wills Park is open now for seniors on Mondays and Saturdays from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Residents ages 55 + can pay just $2 per day.   • Are you curious about Alpharetta's budget and operating expenses? Starting on May 22, there will be public hearings on the budget for FY 2024. You can review the proposed budget at https://bit.ly/44RwzWG. (City of Alpharetta)
  • There will be a planned water outage overnight from Sunday, May 21 at midnight through Monday, May 22 at 5 a.m. in Johns Creek. This will happen near Barnwell Road and Holcomb Bridge Road. This link has a map that shows where the outage will occur. (City of Johns Creek)
  • The national writers' strike started almost two weeks ago, and there is an economic impact to the Atlanta economy since productions are shutting down. The affected workers include makeup, costumes, production design and many others. If the strike continues, tens of thousands of crew members could lose their jobs as well. (WSB Atlanta)
