Milton Meth Lab Busted By DEA, 3 Arrested

The DEA seized hundreds of pounds of crystal meth as a part of the operation, which included three arrests at a Milton meth lab.

MILTON, GA — Local law enforcement and U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) agents busted a six-county crystal meth operation, according to a release from the City of Milton. The Feb. 9 operation yielded three arrests.

The DEA reported seizing hundreds of pounds of crystal meth during the overall operation, which included a raid on a Milton rental property on Mountain Road. That's where the three were arrested, the release says.

The house was made uninhabitable by the presence of chemicals used to produce crystal meth, which are extremely volatile. "This building is unsafe to occupy," said Milton's Chief Building Official, Gary Mullinix, in the release. "There are known conditions on the property which must be analyzed and, based upon that analysis, the city will issue permits for the abatement."

After the raid, the Milton Fire-Rescue Department taped off the property to help ensure nobody enters the area, according to Fire Marshal Matt Marietta, the release says.

The property owner doesn't live in the home, but has 30 days to provide an environmental assessment. The release reports the owner as saying he was working with a contractor experienced in analyzing former meth labs within one day of notice.

"It is expected he will continue to work closely with the city and will provide the required comprehensive analysis of damages and environmental impact," Mullinix said.

The release did not include names of those arrested.
