  1. Milton has been named a ‘Tree City USA' by the Arbor Day Foundation, which is a huge honor. This is the 14th year that Milton has received this award. The qualifications are that the city must have staff dedicated to trees, community tree ordinance, a minimum forestry budget of $2 per capita and celebrate Arbor Day. The Arbor Day celebration will be on Friday, Feb. 17, at the Milton City Park and Preserve. (Press Release Desk)
  2. Jack Buckner of Milton just celebrated his 100th birthday! The World War II veteran graduated from Fulton High School and served for many years in the U.S. Army Air Corps. "Buckner flew at least 50 B17 bomber missions with the U.S. Army Air Corps, braving gunfire and more in the European theater, including dangerous forays over Germany." During that time, he married his wife Florence, and they will soon have their 79th anniversary! Milton Mayor Peyton Jamison is declaring Feb. 3, 2023 "Jack Buckner Day" in Milton.   3. The Milton Police Department is participating in the 2023 Polar Plunge to benefit Special Olympics Georgia.   • The Broadwell Pavilion in Milton will soon be getting a new protective coating on the concrete. It will be an epoxy-based coating on the floor beneath the pavilion. "Milton anticipates the epoxy coating will provide a safer, more abrasive finish and a protective barrier from debris." This pavilion is used for city events and can be rented out for parties, weddings, etc. (The Atlanta Journal Constitution)
  • Midway Elementary school is calling February Kindness Month! That means students will be having routine acts of kindness during the week of Feb. 13-16. For example, they will have a food drive to benefit The Place of Forsyth County. Donations can be dropped off in the front lobby. (Midway Elementary via Facebook)
