Here are the top three stories today in Alpharetta-Milton:

  1. The City of Milton has been ordered to pay $35 million to the parents of Joshua Chang, a Yale student who died in a car accident in 2016. The accident occurred when Chang swerved to avoid an obstacle and hit a planter on Batesville Road. The court ruled in favor of Chang's parents, who argued that the city's failure to remove the planter contributed to their son's death. (Appen Media)
  2. Fulton County's plan to construct a $15 million public safety training center, which was recently reported as breaking news, was actually introduced over two years ago. The proposal has been part of the county's capital improvements package since June 2021 and was included in the budget since January 2022. Despite the lack of public attention and media coverage, the plan has been in progress, with officials citing the need for a new facility due to the deteriorating condition of the current one. (Atlanta Civic Circle)
  3. Retired Fulton County Superior Court Judge and former Atlanta City Council president Marvin S. Arrington Sr. has passed away at the age of 82. Arrington died at home surrounded by his loved ones, leaving behind a legacy of dedicated service and a commitment to Atlanta's growth. Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens expressed his condolences and highlighted Arrington's love for the city and its people, acknowledging his significant contributions as a lawyer, judge, and public servant.
