- Great news for Milton. According to NeighborhoodScout, Milton is one of the safest cities in the country; it is number 39. The data they used includes information on many types of crimes including burglary, assault, murder and armed robbery for communities of 22,000 residents. Milton's crime rate is 6.0 per 1,000 residents; Johns Creek was also in the top 100. (City of Milton, Georgia - Government via Facebook)
- Seven surviving team members of Alpharetta's 1965 Bailey Johnson School's basketball team were recognized for winning the championship that year. At that time, schools in Georgia were segregated based on race, and Bailey Johnson was the only one for Black students in North Fulton County. The team received championship rings and team jackets from Alpharetta's mayor and City Council at Alpharetta City Hall, which was packed. Congratulations! (City of Alpharetta GA via Facebook)
- A series of cars were robbed in Alpharetta in late June and early July. They were parked on North Point Parkway, Wills Road, Mansell Road and Misty Lane. The thieves made away with electronics, handgun, wallets, cash and other items. They also tried to steal one of the cars. Police are investigating the robberies, as there was camera footage. - An 18-year-old was arrested for allegedly killing a woman in the Cumberland Mall parking lot. Paige Jenkins was hit by a car driven by Vanessa Robinson; she was rushed to the hospital but didn't survive her injuries. Then, Robinson left the scene; police took her into custody in Fairburn.
