Here are the top stories in Alpharetta-Milton today:
- Milton held a successful Christmas tree recycling event last week. Hundreds of people brought their trees to the Milton High School parking lot to be made into wood chips. In addition, many participants received flowered dogwood seedlings to be planted at home. Also, over 300 Milton residents had their trees picked up at home to be recycled by Boy Scout troop 841. (Press Release Desk)
- A father and daughter were found dead in their home in nearby Cumming. They are 58-year-old Jerry Frix and his 26-year-old daughter Megan Frix of 6630 Evans Drive. Their bodies were discovered by a home health aide. It's possible that it was a murder/suicide. Authorities are waiting for autopsy results. (Newsbreak)
- The City of Milton will be offering free community gardening classes soon. The spring-themed classes will all take place on consecutive Wednesdays between 6:45 to 8:15 p.m., starting on Feb. 15. The classes will cover topics such as pollinators, how to take care of trees and vegetable gardening. Registration is required. (City of Milton)

- The Milton Library has reopened! There are ongoing repairs in the lobby repairs from water damage. You can enter through the children's department. (Milton Library)
- Arrests have been made in connection with a shooting last Friday at the Perimeter Mall food court. Roykell Holder, 20, and Raymond Pierre, 21, were arrested in an apartment off Pleasantdale Road. One of the victims is 18-year-old Che’saun Lacey; he was brought to Grady Hospital and is in stable condition. (WSB-TV)
- Cogburn Woods Elementary School, at 13080 Cogburn Road in Alpharetta, will be collecting electronics for recycling. From Monday, Jan. 23 through Jan 27, you can drop off items in the recycling bins at the front office between 7:10 a.m. and 2:45 p.m. Children cannot bring the electronics to the school; they must be brought in by an adult. You can also drop small items off during the AFTERNOON carpool on Tuesday the 24th and Wednesday the 25th from 1:45 - 2:45 p.m. (Cogburn Woods Elementary School PTO via Facebook)
