Here are the top stories in Alpharetta-Milton today:

  1. Milton's Mayor Peyton Jamison gave a positive State of the City address earlier this week. He discussed enhancements at Milton's parks, plans for a new fire station, new business developments and a drop in the millage rate. The City had 27 new business ribbon-cuttings in 2022. The entire speech is available at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_y2Bj0wmBfI. (City of Milton, Georgia - Government via Facebook)
  2. Are you interested in learning about the history of Milton? You're invited to a presentation on Tuesday, Feb. 21 on the McConnell-Chadwick House. It was built more than 180 years ago and was originally owned by Eli McConnell. He helped settle conflicts between Native Americans and white settlers. In addition, he owned businesses and was a state senator, among other activities. This presentation will take place at The Rooftop at Crabapple Market at 12650 Crabapple Road in Milton starting at 6:30 p.m. (City of Milton)
  3. Westside Parkway in Alpharetta will have construction between Feb. 20-24. The affected section runs between Maxwell Road and Encore Parkway on the southbound side. There will be lane closures, and motorists are encouraged to find alternate routes if possible. They will be repairing a dip that has developed on this road. (Press Release Desk)
  4. Are you interested in plans for Alpharetta's Old Rucker Park? This park has 10 acres, and one section has trees, plants and a stream. The city is planning to switch 7.5 acres into "a passive recreational space with parking, restrooms and other amenities." There are upcoming meetings to allow the public to provide feedback on these plans next week. You can learn more about them at bit.ly/3eTqtwT (The Atlanta Journal Constitution)
