- Milton is celebrating National Park and Recreation Month, and there will be a "trail tour" at 9 a.m. on July 18 at Milton City Park. There will be another one on July 25 at Birmingham Park starting at 3 p.m. Other opportunities to enjoy Milton's parks include free Zumba, Tai Chi and Stretch-Fit classes this month at Milton's City Park and Preserve’s Community Center. (City of Milton)
- Speed limits on many of Milton's roads may be lowered to improve safety. Here is a list of proposed changes; the final decisions will be made later this year: all of Bethany Way from 45 to 40 mph, Freemanville Road between Mayfield Road and Providence Road from 40 to 35 mph, Providence Road between Freemanville Road and the southern city limit from 45 to 40 mph, and removing a 1,000-foot segment of Mayfield Road between State Route 372 to Charlotte Drive/Heritage Walk from the radar permit road list and lowering its speed limit from 35 to 25 mph zone. After the final decisions are made, the city will communicate changes through updated signs, emails and social media posts. (City of Milton)
- There will soon be a new restaurant where Alpharetta's Carson Kitchen was located. It will be named Standard at Alpharetta. The owners already have Standard at Roswell at 994 Alpharetta St. in Roswell. The menu will be the same as the one in the Roswell location and will include grain bowls, pizza, wings and salads. It will have a full bar, live music and TVs throughout. Carson Kitchen was open just over three years. (Subscription: The Atlanta Journal Constitution)
- Birmingham Falls' kindergarten student enrollment for the fall of 2023 is much lower than expected. The school is projected to have 100 students and only 52 are registered. Please register your child if they will be attending the school this fall and forward this message to others. "Enjoy the rest of your summer and don’t forget — our Sneak Peek is on Friday, Aug. 4 from 8:30-11 a.m." (Birmingham Falls Elementary School via Facebook)
