  1. Have you heard about the new Scene Art Gallery in Alpharetta? It is inside the North Point Mall and exists to promote and sell art by local artists. They are looking for local artists to consign their art; here is a link to apply CLICK HERE . In addition, the space can be used to host fun events. There will a be grand opening event on Saturday, May 13 starting at 3:00 p.m. (The Scene)
  2. Starting tomorrow, the burn ban in our area will take effect, and it will last until September 30. That means businesses and citizens cannot burn yard and land clearing debris, and is in addition to the year round ban on burning household garbage. The reason for the ban is that there is more ozone in the air during the summer, and burning will increase the amount of ozone even more. This ban applies to many counties in GA, including Carroll, Clayton, Coweta, DeKalb, Douglas, Fayette, Fulton, Gwinnett, Heard, Henry, Rockdale and Spalding.(EPD)
  3. Mark your calendars for May 6 - there will be a volunteer clean up event for Birmingham Park in Milton between 8-11:30 a.m. that day. Come and spend time with other community members clearing trails, removing trash, and making the park more tidy. You can show up at the park, located at 750 Hickory Flat Road behind Fire Station 42, with your gloves and other tools, or just yourself. Water will be provided. (Press Release Desk )
  4. The Kimball Bridge replacement project in Alpharetta is starting on May, and drivers will be affected. The current bridge, which runs between North Point Parkway and Northwinds Parkway, will be closed for one year. Motorists will need to take "North Point Parkway or Northwinds Parkway to detour to either Old Milton Parkway or Haynes Bridge Road to get around the closure." In addition, there will lane shifts on GA-400 between Haynes Bridge Road and Old Milton Parkway to keep the construction site safe for workers and the speed limit for that section will be reduced to 55.
