- Are you planning to go to Atlanta on New Year's Eve? After a three-year break, there will be a celebration and Peach Drop. The event will start at 6 p.m. until midnight, when the peach drops. Here is the lineup for that night: So So Def Jermaine Dupri & Friends, Da Brat, Jagged Edge, YoungBloodZ, Atlanta-based rock group Drivin n Cryin and Blanco Brown. - Our area is being asked to contribute to the North Fulton Community Charity food pantry. They were collecting nonperishable items through yesterday at several locations. Now, you can donate online. The City of Alpharetta has a link to allow donations from an Amazon Smile shopping list that will be sent directly to NFCC at https://amzn.to/3h3bQLq. (AJC)
- Soon, there will be a new piece of art at Evans General Contractors at 3050 Northwinds Parkway in Alpharetta. The Alpharetta Public Arts Commission approved plans for an eagle sculpture by artist David Landis. It will be made of stainless steel, be 17 feet tall and will sit on top of a stone base to match a nearby wall. For protection, the sculpture will be coated with an anti-graffiti substance. - After a year of planning, Alpharetta has officially adopted its City Agriculture Plan. This plan was formed with input from hundreds of residents and city leaders who attended meetings to discuss "what a healthy and vibrant local food system could look like and how to achieve that." Food Well Alliance will provide $75,000 in funding for the project, which will be matched by the City of Alpharetta, to launch this program. The items that will be included are "education; increasing access to Locally grown food; community connectivity and empowerment; homeowners association (HOA) regulations; sustainability and green Spaces; and compost and reducing food waste.
