Here are the top stories today in Alpharetta-Milton:
- Negotiations are continuing regarding the redevelopment of Alpharetta's North Point Mall. This mall has lost foot traffic and stores in recent years due to many factors, including the arrival of the Avalon. The Alpharetta City Council rejected a $500 million upgrade plan from Trademark Property earlier this week. One concern from City Council is the number of rental units included in the proposal from Trademark. This developer wants 875 rental units and only 103 homes for purchase. The developer has six months to come back with a new proposal. (WSB-TV)
- There will be new lane closures soon due to the construction at 400 and I-285. Motorists are encouraged to allow extra time when traveling on these roads, and use traffic apps to avoid delays, which could be significant. Also, pay attention to any detours, which could appear on both roads. A description of all of the closures can be found in the link. (Traffic)
- Are you interested in purchasing or donating books? The Milton Library will be holding a book sale on Saturday, Nov. 12 starting at 10 a.m. You can donate books anytime by placing them in the book donation slot behind the barn. "If you have more books than can fit on a 3-foot-long shelf, please bag or box them and leave them at the door and call us when you drop off. " Please don't leave any books outside when it could rain. (Friends of the Milton Library)

- The Alpharetta Department of Public Safety will be sharing information over the next few weeks with the public on opioids, which are implicated in many drug overdoses. The purpose is to educate people on how to prevent overdoses and understand the danger from many of these drugs. Fentanyl is one opioid that is prescribed for patients with severe pain and is also manufactured illegally. If it is misused, it can lead to an overdose that needs to be treated immediately. (Alpharetta Department of Public Safety via Facebook)
- Clarity Road in Milton will be closed next Wednesday for pipe repairs. The repairs will take place between 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., weather permitting.
